Utah’s Professional Organization for Interpreters
The Utah Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (UTRID) is the only professional organization for sign language interpreters in the state of Utah. UTRID is an affiliate chapter of the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Utah RID was established in 1992.
UTRID and RID are membership organizations representing professionals who facilitate communication between people who are Deaf or hard of hearing and people who can hear. Interpreters serve as professional communicators in a wide range of settings, including churches, schools, courtrooms, hospitals, theaters, political events, and television.

Advancing the Interpreting Profession
The principal purposes of this organization are to initiate, sponsor, promote, and execute policies and activities that will further the profession of interpretation of American Sign Language and English and the transliteration of English.
