FOR ORGANIZATIONS

Submit a Workshop for CMP & CEU Approval

Use UTRID as your RID CMP Sponsor for an external workshop, conference, training, or other educational activity.

Important Before You Begin

UTRID must approve your workshop and promotional materials before you advertise the activity as eligible for RID CEUs through UTRID.

Do not advertise RID CEUs as available through UTRID until UTRID has approved the workshop.

Plan Ahead

Submit your workshop information at least 45 days before the event. This gives UTRID time to review the educational activity, supporting documentation, instructor information, and promotional materials before the workshop is advertised as offering RID CEUs through UTRID.

UTRID has combined the Continuing Education Activity Plan and Instructor Form submissions into one online process to make workshop approval easier for organizers.

HOST REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for RID CMP Activities

Activities submitted through UTRID must meet RID CMP requirements. Activities may be presented for group instruction or individual study and may include workshops, seminars, conferences, short courses, teleconferences, distance learning, or other educational formats.

The Educational Activity Must:

  • Follow the stated educational objectives of the activity.
  • Be of sufficient duration to achieve the stated educational objectives.
  • Focus on one subject or a group of closely related subjects. If the activity includes multiple components, such as a lecture series, the components should address integrally related subjects.
  • Use current, suitable, and appropriate audiovisual aids and supporting materials.
  • Use a delivery method that encourages active participant involvement, feedback, and reinforcement of learned knowledge or skills.
  • Include qualified teaching staff with appropriate credentials, training, experience, and expertise in the subject matter. Instructors should demonstrate high ethical standards of professional conduct and be sensitive to individual differences among RID members.
  • Include advanced continuing education opportunities appropriate for certified interpreters when applicable.

Host responsibility: The host must verify participant attendance and completion of all course materials and requirements associated with the submitted activity.

1

Submit Your Workshop

Complete the required submission and payment, if applicable, before your workshop is advertised as offering RID CEUs through UTRID.

Workshop Processing

Submit payment for workshop processing if required. UTRID organizational members receive processing for six workshops per membership year as a membership benefit. See CMP Processing Fees for details.

Continuing Education Activity Plan

Complete the Continuing Education Activity Plan form at least 45 days before the event.

Information You Will Need

Please submit complete information. Missing information or documentation may delay the review and approval process.

Content Knowledge Level

Identify the level of familiarity participants should have with the subject matter. The selected level must be included in promotional materials.

  • Little / No: Little or no prior knowledge; focuses on orientation and understanding. May also apply to events with participants at varied knowledge levels.
  • Some: Some familiarity with the topic; focuses on increasing understanding and application.
  • Extensive: Extensive familiarity with the topic; focuses on recent advances, future directions, and research applications.
  • Teaching: For interpreter educators; focuses on current techniques for preparing interpreters and transliterators.

2

Wait for Approval

UTRID will review your workshop submission and promotional materials. You must receive approval before advertising the workshop as eligible for RID CEUs through UTRID.

Do not distribute promotional materials stating that RID CEUs are available through UTRID until the activity has been approved.

3

Prepare for Your Workshop

Once your workshop has been approved, prepare the materials attendees will need to complete the evaluation and request RID CEU credit.

  • Print several copies of the UTRID Evaluation QR Page to display for attendees.
  • You may also add the QR code to your presentation slides.
  • Have your Certificate of Completion ready for distribution to attendees.

4

During Your Workshop

Conduct the workshop according to the activity submitted and approved by UTRID for RID CMP/CEU credit.

  • Follow the approved educational objectives and activity content.
  • Use the approved delivery format and materials.
  • Provide the Workshop Evaluation link and/or QR code to attendees: Workshop Evaluation.
  • Attendees are not required to answer every evaluation question. They may skip the questions except for the activity title and date.
  • After submitting the evaluation, attendees will receive a link to request RID CEU credit for the workshop.
  • Attendees should not be permitted to request RID CEU credit if they missed more than 25% of the activity.
  • Only attendees who complete the RID CEU credit request form will be included in the RID CEU submission. The CMP Coordinator cannot honor requests to modify the roster after it has been submitted.
  • Attendees must provide their RID number, and their information must exactly match their profile in the RID membership database.
  • Distribute Certificates of Completion to attendees electronically or on paper.

Attendance verification: Hosts are responsible for verifying participant attendance and completion of the approved course materials and requirements.

Coordinators can view submitted evaluations and the list of attendees who completed the RID CEU credit request through the Workshop Evaluations and CEUs spreadsheet.

RID CEUs and Utah CEHs Are Separate

RID CEUs and Utah CEHs are processed through separate systems. UTRID is responsible for RID CMP/CEU processing when UTRID is serving as the RID CMP Sponsor. UTRID does not approve, process, or submit Utah CEHs.

If a workshop has been approved for both RID CEUs and Utah CEHs, attendees must complete the required credit process for each system separately to receive credit in both systems. The two systems do not communicate or transfer information between one another. Completing the RID CEU process does not submit or transfer information to the Utah CEH system, and completing the Utah CEH process does not submit or transfer information to RID.

5

Report Your Workshop

Complete the online Activity Report Form within 10 days of the event.

Your Activity Report Includes

  • Activity title
  • Activity ID
  • Instructor RID number, if the instructor would like RID CEU credit
  • Roster/roll gathered electronically
  • Evaluations and comments gathered electronically

If the Activity Report Form is not submitted to the UTRID CMP Coordinator, attendees will not receive RID CEUs through UTRID.

SUPPORTING RESOURCES

Plan Your Workshop

These resources provide additional guidance for developing a workshop that meets RID CMP requirements.

Reference Forms

These paper forms are provided for reference only. Use the current online forms when submitting workshop information to UTRID.

Paper forms may not be submitted to UTRID. If you use a paper form to gather information, transfer that information to the appropriate online form before submitting. Scanned or handwritten forms will need to be resubmitted digitally and can delay processing.
