UTRID Board Elections [YEAR]

UTRID is seeking nominations for Board of Directors and Members-at-Large positions. Consider nominating yourself or someone who would like to contribute to the leadership and continued development of UTRID.

About the UTRID Board

The UTRID Board of Directors is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization, including business meetings, training, financial transactions, and other duties assigned by the membership or Board.

The Board of Directors consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two to six Members-at-Large (MALs), as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. The Board meets at least quarterly.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. [DELETE POSITIONS THAT ARE NOT UP FOR ELECTION]

President

Provides general supervision and direction of UTRID, presides over meetings, appoints committee chairpersons with Board approval, provides annual reports to the membership, represents UTRID at applicable national and regional RID conferences, and submits required annual documentation to RID.

Vice-President

Performs the duties of the President in the President’s absence or disability and serves as Director of Committees, overseeing UTRID committees.

Secretary

Maintains accurate records of Board and general membership meetings, supervises organizational records, maintains the corporate seal, provides required notices, and performs other assigned duties.

Treasurer

Maintains financial records and accounts, provides financial reports, assists with budgeting and financial forecasting, prepares annual financial reporting, and coordinates required Form 990 reporting.

Members-at-Large

Members-at-Large (MALs) serve as liaisons between the membership and the Board, provide resources and support to members, and take on responsibilities assigned by the Board. [DELETE POSITIONS THAT ARE NOT UP FOR ELECTION]

Student/Emerging Interpreter Involvement

Supports connection and engagement with students and emerging interpreters and helps bring their perspectives and needs to the Board.

UAD Liaison

Serves as a liaison between UTRID and the Utah Association of the Deaf and supports communication and connection with the Deaf community.

Conference Planner

Supports planning and coordination of UTRID conference activities and works with the Board and committees as needed.

Public Relations/Membership Outreach

Supports UTRID communication, public relations, outreach, and efforts to engage and connect with members.

Professional Development

Supports professional development activities and opportunities for UTRID members and the interpreting community.

Immersion Weekend Planner

Supports planning and coordination of UTRID’s Immersion Weekend activities and works with the Board and committees as needed.

Who Can Be Nominated?

All Board candidates must be members in good standing of both RID and UTRID and have voting rights in each.

Candidates must be nationally certified interpreters, working toward national certification, or Deaf people involved in the field of interpreting services.

For purposes of these qualifications, “nationally certified” includes service providers holding certification recognized by RID or the Testing, Evaluation & Certification Unit (Cued American English TSC).
