Promotional & Advertising Requirements
Make sure your promotional materials include the information participants need to select continuing education activities that meet their learning objectives.
What Your Promotional Materials Must Include
To provide a reliable basis for participants to select continuing education activities that meet their personal learning objectives, all promotional media, outreach, and materials for activities offering RID CEUs are required to include the following:
Logistical Information
Include logistical information about the educational event, including, but not limited to, date(s), time(s), location(s), and whether the event is in-person or virtual.
RID CMP, ACET & UTRID Logos
Include the RID CMP, ACET, and UTRID logos on your promotional materials. Copies of the logos are provided below and may be reduced or enlarged to fit the design of your materials.
Required RID CMP Statement
Include the following statement in your promotional materials:
UTRID is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This [Content Area] program is offered for [#] CEUs at the [Knowledge Level] Content Knowledge Level.
Replace the bracketed information with the approved content area, number of CEUs, and content knowledge level for your activity.
Event Description & Educational Objectives
Include a description of the event, including information about the educational objectives of the activity. Information about the educational objectives may be presented in a variety of formats and levels of detail.
Presenter Information
Include biographical information about the presenters indicating their experience with the topic. This information may be presented in a variety of formats and levels of detail.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Include information about your organization’s refund and cancellation policy. You may provide a link to the applicable policy and registration information rather than printing the entire policy.
Example: UTRID’s policy: Cancellation & Refund Policy
Target Audience
Identify the target audience as described in the Continuing Education Activity Plan.
Example: ASL students and interpreters of every skill level are invited to attend.
Reasonable Accommodation Statement
Include a statement soliciting requests for reasonable accommodations from potential participants.
Example: Requests for accommodation will be submitted during the registration process.
Alternative: To request a reasonable accommodation, please contact [Organization Email].
Non-Discrimination & Learning Environment
Include a statement identifying the Sponsor’s policies on non-discrimination and the promotion of learning environments based on mutual respect that minimize or eliminate bias.
Important: This requirement does not preclude difficult conversations. The goal is to create learning environments where learning and honest dialogue can happen while minimizing or eliminating bias.
Example: [Organization Name] is committed to providing learning environments that are welcoming, respectful, and free from discrimination and bias. We value diverse perspectives and encourage thoughtful discussion, including difficult conversations, while expecting participants and presenters to engage with one another respectfully.
Customize this statement for your organization. Replace [Organization Name] with the name of the sponsoring organization and make sure the statement reflects your organization’s applicable policies.
Promotional Materials Checklist
Before distributing your promotional materials, make sure they include:
- Event date, time, location, and delivery format
- RID CMP, ACET, and UTRID logos
- The required RID CMP Sponsor statement
- Event description and educational objectives
- Presenter biographies and relevant experience
- Refund and cancellation policy information
- Target audience
- Reasonable accommodation information
- Non-discrimination and respectful learning environment statement
